You have seen the Ribeira, the Ponte Luis I bridge, and Clérigos Tower, now let us take you beyond the tourist attractions for a taste of the real Porto with one of the top rated activities on Trip Advisor.
As the first and only tour operator focused solely on gastronomic experiences in Porto, Taste Porto is passionate about local gastronomy and strives for each and every guest to fall in love with the city and its food. Run by a team of food lovers, you will enjoy a wonderfully personal experience where you will tread off the beaten path and eat like a local.
Every tour consists of a 3.5 hours walk with your local guide who will take you away from the Porto that tourists usually see and show you the real Porto. Like taking a walk with a friend, your tour guide will introduce you to 6 unique tasting locations. In total you will experience a well-balanced gastronomic tour of 10 different foods and 6 different beverages.
At each tasting location you will taste an important element of the cuisine of Porto and the North of Portugal. You will also learn about the families and history behind each of the restaurants, cafes, and specialty food shops that you visit. In between tasting locations you will hear about the history, architecture and culture while you walk the streets of this beautiful city.
Taste Porto is a socially responsible business and 5% of each ticket sold is donated to a local charity that helps feed the poor.
Loja dos Pastéis de Chaves
The day begins with a warm flaky pastry of Chaves. A savory and sweet tasting that will provide you with the energy and curiosity to start your exploration of Porto.
Bolhão Wine House
Soak in the energy of the market while enjoying a glass of moscatel galego along with some traditional sardines and a pastry, made by grandma, just for you.
Flor dos Congregados
Enjoy this one-of-a-kind third generation owned restaurant and its sandwich that brings together fresh bread, slow roasted pork loin and sweet cured ham.
One of Porto’s historic cafes and world renowned for its beauty, it opened its doors in 1933 in the heart of downtown as the meeting place of politicians, businessmen and artists.
Leitaria da Quinta do Paço
What began as only dairy products in 1920, expanded into creating some of the lightest and fluffiest eclairs ever.
All in Porto
Enjoy various wine regions of the country as they are perfectly paired with cheeses, cured meats, and petiscos from small, local producers.
Tickets must be purchased in advance of the tour. Our tours tend to sell out and we do not take walk-ups nor do we accept cash. This is because of the agreement we have with our partners and insurance company. Please click on ‘Book Now’ on the right-hand sidebar of this webpage to purchase your tickets.
Yes, bathrooms are available during the tour at selected food-tasting locations.
Tours are held rain or shine. That’s how much we love the food! We ask you to check the weather before hand and dress appropriately. And don’t worry, tasting will occur indoors if needed as things don’t taste as good soggy.
Please be sure and let us know if you (or anyone in your group) has a dietary restriction or allergy when you purchase your tickets.
On the Downtown Food Tour we can accommodate vegetarians, gluten or dairy intolerances, but not vegans.
On the Vintage Food Tour we are unable to accommodate vegetarians, vegans, gluten or dairy intolerance.
Yes, babies and children are welcomed on our tour. However, we ask you to use your judgment to determine if the tour is appropriate for them. Please take into consideration that the tour is 3.5 hours long during which time we are either walking or standing for the majority of it.
We have designed most of the tour to go downhills, however due to steep inclines, tiny cobblestone streets and inaccessibility of the tasting locations, the tour is not baby stroller accessible. We recommend to use the carrier.
Babies and small children who will not be joining the food tastings do not need a ticket.

This tour was a great choice and well worth the money. Tried tons of food and drinks and definitely unique options! I enjoyed that it wasn't the "typical" Portuguese food that you can find on every corner. Our guide was fantastic and very informative. I would totally recommend this tour!
